Alisma parviflora (American water plantain) is a very unusual looking marginal plant with dark green spoon-shaped leaves and an airy flower head with multiple small pinkish-white flowers.
It is quite late to start into growth, usually towards the end of April. It does have rather a short season and can be susceptible to rust and black spot as the flowers fade.
Position in full sun to partial shade
Grow them as a bog plant or as a pond marginal in a pond basket at a water depth of 6-20cm. Plants will die back in autumn and fresh new growth will appear again in spring. Divide in spring if required.
