Scirpus cernuus, also known as Isolepis cernua or the fiber optic plant, is a grass-like sedge prized for its ornamental, drooping white flowers and suitability for pond margins and wet gardens.
The plant typically grows to 20–35 cm (8–14 inches) in height and forms slender, grass-like leaves with tiny white or pale brown flowers at the tips
Scirpus cernuus is easy to grow and prefers full sun or light shade.
It is ideal for marginal pond planting in 2–10 cm of water, bog gardens, or very well-watered containers
The plant is generally pest- and disease-free and requires minimal maintenance
Propagation can be done by seed or division from mid-spring to early summer. In autumn, it is recommended to tidy the plant without cutting back the foliage completely
