Sword-shaped foliage with a bright coloured, unusual bloom in the shape of a quill, pineapple, spike or sword
They require bright, indirect light and warmth
They have a central 'vase' which should always be topped up with water
Mist regularly
After flowering, the plant will die back and produce pups at its base, which can be potted up to grow into new plants
